Sick Leave

Described in Personal Handbook, page 9.4-1

Form A — Paid by the employer. The first 9 days of sickness.
Form B — Paid by VSAA (State Social Insurance Agency). Starting from the 10th day of sickness.

Form A (Paid by the Employer)
- Covers the first 9 calendar days of illness.
- 1st day —  Unpaid
- 2nd–3rd day — Paid at 75% of your average salary.
- 4th–9th day — Paid at 80% of your average salary.
- The employer pays this amount together with your next salary.

Form B (Paid by VSAA)
- Paid starting from the 10th calendar day of illness and continues until recovery or disability is confirmed.
- The amount paid for Form B is 80% of your average salary (calculated by VSAA).
- Payments are made by VSAA approximately once a month (according to their payout schedule or however your doctor opens and closes sick leave).

Example Calculation
Let's assume your average salary is €2,000 gross and there are let's say 20 working days that month. Average daily salary 2000/20=100

- 1st day —  Unpaid.
- 2nd–3rd day 75% — 0.75×100×2 = 150 (for 2 days)
- 4th–9th day 80% — 0.8×100×6 = 480 (for 6 days)
- From the 10th day onward — 80%—   0.8 × 100 = 80 per day (paid by VSAA until recovery).

How to Submit Documents

- Call the doctor and open the sick list, and you'll need to come for a visit within 3 days. The sick leave form is issued electronically by the doctor in the E-veselība system.
- Call Crew Dispatch and notify (preferably till 15:00)
- The employer automatically receives a notification about Form A.
- After the 9th day of sickness, the doctor automatically opens Form B.

How to receive the payment:

Form A
Will be paid by the Employer automatically with the next salary

Form B
You must submit a request to VSAA (this can be done online via www.latvija.lv).

Note: sickness on hold - temporary absence type set in the system before the company receives the absence justification documents from the employee.

Employee has a deficit in VID income declaration. What causes that and what actions should be taken?

Why is there a tax deficit showing?
This is due to a technical issue related to Solidarity Tax.
In previous years, airBaltic used its legal right to defer part of the social tax payments (including solidarity tax)
under a special agreement with the State Revenue Service (SRS).

As a result:
The EDS system shows incomplete data for 2024 income.
It looks like employees owe tax, but in reality, there is no real debt.
This is not your fault, and the same issue happened in previous years. SRS is aware of it.
Where is the tax deficit showing?
The deficit appears in your Latvian Electronic Declaration System (EDS), under your early income declaration.
What should we do?
Nothing for now.
Do not submit your final declaration until airBaltic provides official instructions.
This same issue has happened in previous years and was resolved manually by SRS after coordination with airBaltic and their tax advisors.
Usually, airBaltic sends a full guide at the end of May or in June, explaining what to do and whether any manual input is needed.

Where and how can I check my payslip information?

For Cabin Crew and Pilots with iPads:
- Connect your iPad to the company VPN.
- Open the Oracle app.
- Navigate to Employee Self Service (choose any language).
- Select Payslipform.
- Choose the desired period (e.g., previous month).
For employees without iPads:
